Although attached to the original 88-bed skilled nursing building, the 20-bed memory care household is primarily self-sufficient. Open corridors create an endless path leading residents to cognitive and sensory stimulation stations; calming intimate sitting areas; covered patios; and meandering walk paths through the courtyard. The communal kitchen design allows staff to control access and engage residents in the food preparation process when desired. Painting and creating arts and crafts in the craft room nurtures a cognitive balance. Staff support spaces are conveniently located out-of-sight throughout the building. Semi-private bedrooms are divided with built-in bookcase walls and include built-in wardrobes, dressers, and cabinets. Each room has an accessible bathroom including roll-in shower. Although self-sustaining, food and laundry services are often accommodated via the original building.
