The initial phase of the Army Residence Community Cottages was originally part of a larger project, The Army Residence Community Expansion. Design guidelines were established through multiple meetings with several different focus groups. The exterior aesthetics match the Lakeside Landing Community Center. To meet the residents’ broad requirements, multiple floorplan layouts ranging in size from 1700-2400 square feet were provided. All floorplans are designed to be constructed individually or as mix and match duplex configurations. The kitchen, living room, and dining room are open to each other creating a space that accommodates hosting friends and family. Many large windows, transom windows, clerestory windows, skylights, and solar light tubes bathe the home in natural light. In addition, task oriented areas are well lit with multiple sources ensuring ample light at all times. Covered patios are an integral part of the layouts. Master bedrooms are linked to a large walk-in closet and a large master bathroom which contains a vanity with His and Hers lavatories, a garden tub, walk-in shower, and isolated toilet. Multiple storage closets were provided in the core of the house as well as adjacent to the two-car garage. For the resident’s comfort and sense of security, each unit includes fire detection, security, and nurse call systems tied into the campus security system.
